Represents or advises clients in judicial cases (building works contracts, distribution contracts, shareholders’ agreements, patents and other intellectual property rights, financing contracts, etc.), in Portugal and in Brazil, and participates in corporate projects (negotiation, drafting and implementation or change of corporate structures aimed at commercial, industrial or real estate investments) in Portugal, Brazil and the Middle East.
Acts as administrative secretary, lawyer and arbitrator in domestic and international arbitrations; and participates in ad hoc arbitrations (UNCITRAL and others) and institutional arbitration proceedings (ICC, ACL, etc.) in matters related to construction, shareholders’ agreements, public-private-partnership concessions, joint ventures in real estate projects and distribution contracts.
Advises clients acting in construction and distribution on strategies to prevent and resolve disputes and conflict management, mainly in Portugal, Brazil, Middle and Far East (UAE and India). Acts as commercial mediator, especially in litigations related to distribution contracts. Frequently participates in seminars and conferences and teaches in post-graduate courses on arbitration and commercial mediation. Wrote several articles on arbitration and commercial mediation, published in magazines and other juridical publications.
Represents national and foreign citizens in administrative and judicial proceedings related to the defence of fundamental rights, namely in cases of expropriations and nationality. Supports members of Portuguese communities residing abroad, notably in Brazil, India, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, USA and Canada.
